Bertie by the Beach written and illustrated by Mark Burrell

'Bertie by the Beach', is Marks first fully written and illustrated book. All the pictures in ‘Bertie by the Beach’ were painted, and took about eighteen months to complete.

Mark describes the book as a magical rhyming story about a little crab called Bertie and his mermaid friends who live by the sea. We learn what Bertie likes to do, like  watching  T.V, going to the theatre, learning a new dance, playing hide and seek, looking for pirate treasure, or making wishes under shooting stars with his human friends, and much much more.  This story is playful and optimistic, with a subtle message about the importance of people, diversity, kindness, community and friendship.
